Getting a Nepalese Police Report from overseas has become easier than ever. The process is now free, fast, and fully online, allowing applicants to receive their Nepali Police Check within three business days.
Nepalese living overseas can now apply for a Police Clearance Certificate directly through Nepal Police using a new online registration system. This streamlined process has been introduced specifically to assist Nepalese abroad who need a police report for permanent residency, citizenship, or study and work visas.
With the new system, there is no longer any need to rely on relatives in Kathmandu to collect a physical police report or arrange international courier services. Everything can be completed online, saving time, effort, and unnecessary stress.
Previously, applicants had to ask family members in Kathmandu to obtain a physical copy of the Nepalese Police Report and send it overseas. Later, an email-based system was introduced, requiring applicants to submit their applications and documents by email. Once received, the Nepal Police would explain the process and email back a digital Character Verification Certificate.
However, the email-based system had reliability issues. Email and attachment size limits meant applications could fail if files were too large. Even a small error could result in an undelivered email, often without the applicant knowing whether their application had been received.
The new online police clearance system is far more reliable. It creates an applicant account, tracks progress, and provides status updates throughout the process—making it a smarter and more dependable option for Nepalese living overseas.
